Did you know that even in 2008 most women don't talk about the menopause?
For some it remains a taboo subject, not to be shared even with a friend, let alone a partner. They put on a brave face and try to pretend everything's OK. But, as many of us know, it simply isn't. It can be almost too much to bear alone and some women feel quite desperate.
Talking about your own menopause with other women at the same stage in their lives can be a great relief and a revelation.
What if you have no-one to talk to at the moment? Even though menopause can make you feel hopelessly underconfident and anxious, try joining a class or club. Talk to people you already know, mention the 'M' word. You might find that they would like to share their own experiences with you. |
Other sources of help
If you don't feel able to do this, you could always try some of the websites and chat rooms relating to the menopause. You will find a supportive group of people will make a lot of difference when you are feeling low.
Time to chat
During your week away on the Extended Kick-start Programme, you will have plenty of time and space to think and talk about how you want your life to be, with women who have the time to listen. And you might, of course, meet people you can stay in touch with while you are away.
Stay in touch
You can also keep in contact with the Pace of Change team and other participants in the programme on our message board on this website.
