Since I started having menopausal symptoms, I seem to break into a hot sweat every time I have a cup of tea or coffee. Why is this?

Caffeine is a stimulant of all systems of your body. It increases your heart beat, your blood pressure etc. When you drink tea which has a huge amount of caffeine in it this kicks all your systems into action and most people, menopausal or not will experience an increase in heat, perspiration and heart rate.

That's why it should really be avoided during menopause. Actually it should be avoided in general anyway. Full of antoxidants as it is, there are better ways of getting those benefits than compromising you sleep, digestion, and metabolism.

I just thought I would take the time to update. I decided to give up caffeine since the New Year, and I think that I feel quite a lot better in the hot flush department.

I guess this is what it takes. Plugging away at one thing after the other.

What shall I do for the c*** sleep?

Hmm. I have found that not having coffee and tea in the later part of the day, certainly not after 5pm, not only stops the hot flushes but also I can sleep through the night without needing a pee and, best of all, I can get to sleep without too much problem.
